Experience Montreal
2018
When creating this project centred around letter stamps I immediately thought of travel. Whether you are on vacation and get a postcard or write someone a letter, it has to do with travel. I was inspired by my own travelling and my move to Montreal. New to living in Montreal, I have found that there are certain landmarks and streets that Montreal is known for. I compiled a list of both streets and landmarks that are significant to Montreal in hopes that if an individual were to buy or receive my stamp set they would get a taste of what Montreal has to offer!
In creating my stamps, I travelled around Montreal collecting visual references by photographing locations that are significant to the city. I made sure that the diversity of Montreal was captured through all of the locations I captured occupying very different environments and architecture, which makes each stamp unique. Due to the level of detail and unique visual style of my stamps, they are made to be double the size of an average stamp. Additionally, I designed my souvenir sheet to be a map of the island of Montreal, placing each of my stamps on the sheet according to their true geological location.
